“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.”
John 13:34 (NLT)
Hey everyone! I am back with another post for June!! I cannot believe that this is my 4th blog post already! It feels like it was just yesterday that I wrote my very first one! Absolutely crazy how much time flies. Before we dive into June’s topic, I want to talk about what blogs will look like until I leave and when I am on the field. Most of you have probably caught on: for pre-launch, I am only writing one post a month. With the craziness of summer and preparing to leave, I would like to be present, so until I am gone, only one post a month. BUT! After I am gone, I would like to try and write one every other week. I want you guys to be on this adventure with me! So, I would like to write more often; we shall see how well I keep my end of the deal. I promise I will try my best either way. Anyways, let’s dive into this month’s topic, loving others!
How did I decide on this topic? And what does this have to do with ‘blasting off’?
Okay okay, let me answer the first question. This last month was very busy for me. My church had our in-area mission trip, I served in our racecar VBS, I went to many grad parties, and enjoyed summer camp. Most of those things happened all in 2 weeks. Being extremely tired was an understatement. Besides that, in those 2 weeks I got to spend lots of time with people… if you know me, I can get peopled out very quickly, but I am working on that! But in this time of serving, chatting, and being present, I was praying and asking God what He wanted me to get out of these moments. During this time, God has spoken many things to me; the one that repeated the most was this: God said, “Kielynn, I just want you to love My people”. As simple as this sounds, it wrecked me.
Let me explain: when God said this, it hit me how much more there is to this statement!! Everyone is God’s children; therefore, we all are His people. To love His people means to love everyone. Not only our friends, but also our peers, our family, even our enemies. To love all these people is not easy. In fact, it is genuinely a choice to love these people, God’s people. If God can love us as much as He does, why can’t we love them too?
This is going to be a harsh statement, but I don’t think we can truly love and glorify God if we can’t love His people. If you struggle hearing that, then maybe take that up with God. The majority of Jesus’ ministry was just Jesus loving people where they were at. Not scolding them for not being where they should be, but just meeting them and loving them through whatever they were walking through. Jesus’s entire life was centered around loving people. He died and defeated death just to show us how much God loves us. This means that what God spoke to me is not only for myself, but you as well! If loving people is not the base of everything we do, we will crumble. That's why it is important to be sure that everything we do is done out of love.
To the person reading this, I believe God wants me to share this with you. As important as it is to love God’s people, you need to know that YOU are one of God’s people too. He loves YOU just as much as He loves the rest of His children. That means when God calls us to love others, He has called you to love yourself as well. God thinks you are so precious and lovely; He wants you to see that you are such things too. You will never be able to truly experience everything God has for you if you cannot look within and love exactly what God has created you to be. Open your heart and receive all the love God has for you. Because His love for you alone is overflowing! You are enough! You do not need to continue to hold this unattainable goal of perfection over yourself. You no longer have to hold onto any shame or guilt. Just lean back into the loving Father’s arms. God is waiting for you to surrender; why not run to Him now?
I do not speak these things to irritate you, guys; this is hard for me to process as well. I have had many people hurt me in the past, including myself. I chose to hate, and that only hurt me more than them. It wasn’t until I started loving and praying for these people that I was able to truly let go and forgive. I have been very convicted on this topic many times. Thankfully, God has been very patient with me through the process. He will be patient with you too if you let Him in.
To answer the second question I had asked earlier. This has to do with ‘blasting off’ because it applies to any and every ministry. I know I have been called into lifetime ministry. I know part of that calling involves doing mission work. I do not know right now how far the mission part goes. For all I know, participating in World Race might be as far as my mission part of my calling goes. Regardless, no matter what God has for me or where He takes me, the main point of my ministry will be to love others. I have asked God for His heart, and His heart yearns for the family who has never heard His name. His heart longs to show the little girl who wants her life to end the hope Jesus brings. His heart cares for the man who has tried everything and just wants to know the purpose of His life. God’s heart knows eternities are on the line. He wants as many of His children as possible to come home.
God has called me to reach these people. In order to reach them, I must love them first. Not just say I love them, but truly love them with my actions. As I prepare to leave, I know that while I am away, I will get the opportunity to meet and love many people. I am already praying for all the encounters I will get to have; I know they will be beautiful. But to the person reading this, people are everywhere! You do not have to travel across the world to spread love to others! I encourage you to pray for and love the people God has blessed you with now. For I know God will bless you greatly!
And that's all I have to share for now! Thank you for pausing your life to read how God is speaking and moving in mine. I will see you in my next blog!
With much love,
Kielynn :)
